First, the morphology of boulevard theatre genres is discussed: boulevard comedy, vaudeville and farce. Afterwards, two contemporary French playwrights are presented, together with an analysis of the specific depiction of the motifs of couples, marriage, and love triangles in their plays. The analysis includes Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt and his comedies The Guitrys (2013), Georges & Georges (2014), and Les Petites crimes conjugaux (2016) and Rémi De Vos and his play Projection privée (1998).
