PT Journal AU Bizek-Tatara, R SO Romanica Olomucensia PY 2011 BP 147 EP 154 VL 23 IS 2 DI 10.5507/ro.2011.019 DE Jean Muno; phantasy; Histoires singulieres; death; woman. AB In his collection of phantasy short stories Les histoires singulieres, Muno breaches the convention of the genre that concerns the presentation of death and phantoms. Frightening and fascinating at the same time, death always assumes the figure of a woman who is either average or seducing. Her coming is announced by female messengers. Death in Muno is not a tragic event: it is a promise of a better life and a salvation from the worries of schematic and overwhelming everyday reality. ER
