AB  - The aim of this article is to analyse the importance of the role of mythical figures in the creation of fictional characters on the example of L'Emploi du temps by Michel Butor. Searching mythical references in his "new novel", the article brings out the resemblances of Butor's heroes with those of the Greek myths as well as differences between them. The myth, as universal narrative that continues leaving its traces in modern French literature, is the subject of the reflection.
