PT Journal AU Piatti, G TI Pragmatic criteria in the syntactic organization of oral discourse SO Romanica Olomucensia PY 2015 BP 213 EP 226 VL 27 IS 2 DI 10.5507/ro.2015.018 DE oral discourse; conversation; pragmagrammar; cut structures. AB In this paper, a pragmagrammatical approach is adopted; this approach supposes an interface between a descriptive grammar of real conversations and the communicative practices which are evident in speakers' selected options. Certain syntactic phenomena, particularly cut constructions, which are characteristic of oral discourse, are studied in this article, with their meaning being considered in relation to the context. Cases are extracted from a corpus of authentic conversations. Therefore, the study of syntax in context allows the definition of operational concepts and the formulation of organizational syntactic criteria in order to clarify some aspects of the complexity of conversation.
