PT - JOURNAL ARTICLE AU - Piatti, Guillermina TI - Pragmatic criteria in the syntactic organization of oral discourse DP - 2015 Dec 1 TA - Romanica Olomucensia PG - 213--226 VI - 27 IP - 2 AID - 10.5507/ro.2015.018 IS - 18034136 AB - In this paper, a pragmagrammatical approach is adopted; this approach supposes an interface between a descriptive grammar of real conversations and the communicative practices which are evident in speakers' selected options. Certain syntactic phenomena, particularly cut constructions, which are characteristic of oral discourse, are studied in this article, with their meaning being considered in relation to the context. Cases are extracted from a corpus of authentic conversations. Therefore, the study of syntax in context allows the definition of operational concepts and the formulation of organizational syntactic criteria in order to clarify some aspects of the complexity of conversation.
