PT Journal AU Bencicova, M TI Two perceptions, two paths. About fictional worlds created in the manner of the classical and hardboiled detective story SO Romanica Olomucensia PY 2015 BP 243 EP 257 VL 27 IS 2 DI 10.5507/ro.2015.020 DE classical detective story; fictional worlds; Lubomir Dolezel; novela negra; genre. AB This paper tries to find new approaches to differentiate two variants on one genre, namely the classical detective story and the "novela negra". On a methodological basis it works with Lubomir Dolezel's theory about possible fictional worlds in literature. Four operators are taken into account - aletic, deontic, axiological, and epistemic, both in its general and specific sense. Two noted works written by well-known Mexican authors have been chosen for investigation; one of them is a prominent representative of the classical detective story, Maria Elvira Bermudez, the other one is a prolific promoter of the "novela negra" in Latin America, Paco Ignacio Taibo II.
