About fictional worlds created in the manner of the classical and hardboiled detective story DP - 2015 Dec 1 TA - Romanica Olomucensia PG - 243--257 VI - 27 IP - 2 AID - 10.5507/ro.2015.020 IS - 18034136 AB - This paper tries to find new approaches to differentiate two variants on one genre, namely the classical detective story and the "novela negra". On a methodological basis it works with Lubomír Doležel's theory about possible fictional worlds in literature. Four operators are taken into account - aletic, deontic, axiological, and epistemic, both in its general and specific sense. Two noted works written by well-known Mexican authors have been chosen for investigation; one of them is a prominent representative of the classical detective story, María Elvira Bermúdez, the other one is a prolific promoter of the "novela negra" in Latin America, Paco Ignacio Taibo II.
