PT Journal AU Chireac, S Stinga, AP TI A contrastive translatological and didactic approach in the teaching-learning of paremias in three Romance languages SO Romanica Olomucensia PY 2024 BP 239 EP 257 VL 36 IS 2 DI 10.5507/ro.2024.020 DE paremia; Spanish; Valencian; Romanian; translation AB The aim of this study is to analyse from a contrastive point of view the use of paremias in three Romance languages: Spanish, Valencian, and Romanian, on the basis of a corpus of 36 paremias proposed by a total of 115 students from Spain and Romania. In order to check the translatability of the paremias from a translation and linguistic-cognitive perspective, the paremia chosen by each subject is analysed together with its translation in the other two Romance languages. In addition, the reason for choosing the paremias in the students' writings is explained. The results indicate that Spanish students prefer paremias related to their personal interests in their current life, paremias that have marked them at some point in their lives, and those that they continue to use frequently. On the contrary, Romanian students prefer paremias that are representative of Romanian culture in general, offering a wide variety of examples that have no equivalents in other Romance languages. Finally, through the digital tool Padlet, the didactic value in teaching-learning of paremias in contact languages is highlighted on the basis of the feedback received from other native and foreign students and teachers on the paremias in Romance languages presented by the participants in this study.
