Jesús Camacho Niño

Romanica Olomucensia 2017, 29(1):1-16 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2017.001

The proposed study aims to expose and analyze the main aspects and features of the mediostructure or cross-reference structure and its influence on the existing lexicographic typology. The exposition of the mediostuctural characteristics begins from the realization of this lexicographic device in three dictionaries which have a lexicographic specialization: the Diccionario de lexicografía práctica (dlp) (1995), the second edition of the Dictionary of Lexicography (dol) (2001), and the Wörterbuch zur Lexikographie und Wörterbuchforschung. Dictionary of Lexicography and Dictionary...

Zuzana Erdösová

Romanica Olomucensia 2017, 29(1):17-34 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2017.002

The state intercultural universities founded in Mexico since 2003 are an innovative educational model focused primarily on the indigenous peoples and the revitalization of their languages. This paper analyzes the practical reach of the educational model's linguistically oriented goals, making use of the fieldwork data acquired between 2012 and 2015 at the Intercultural University of the State of México (UIEM) and the Intercultural University of Chiapas (UNICH). The conclusion is that while the ethnic identities and attitudes towards the indigenous languages are rather positive, the diglossic practice between these languages and Spanish is maintained...

Naviguer entre obligation et possibilité : pour une analyse des modalités dans lesdiscours d'accueil des présidents d'université

Navigating between obligation and possibility: for an analysis of modalities in university presidents' welcome messages

Máté Kovács

Romanica Olomucensia 2017, 29(1):35-46 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2017.003

This paper deals with the analysis of modalities in contemporary university discourse on the basis of a thorough examination of presidents' welcome messages. Taking into account Gosselin's categorization of modalities, the aim of this article is to show how higher education institutions and their students are depicted through the use of various modalities. As this study reveals, universities are often portrayed in terms of the obligations and responsibilities (deontic modality) to be assumed, whereas students are presented with the possibilities (epistemic modality) they can benefit from

Romanica Olomucensia 2017, 29(1):47-68 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2017.004

The specific goal of this work is to provide linguistic-discursive evidence of the way information is distributed, in terms of degrees of communicative dynamism, in a corpus of legal discourses related to the housing problem experienced by the inhabitants of Buenos Aires City who are in a situation of poverty. The corpus covers the period from 1997 (the year in which the City became autonomous) to 2012, and the discursive analysis applied to it centres upon the study of focalized information. The epistemological paradigm is interpretativist, the theoretical framework is Critical Discourse Analysis, the methodology is qualitative and inductive, and...

Mai-juin 1940 vu du ciel : Saint-Exupéry témoin de l'exode

May-June 1940 seen from the sky: Saint-Exupéry witnesses the exodus

Ana Maria Alves

Romanica Olomucensia 2017, 29(1):69-76 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2017.005

It was in Pilote de Guerre that Saint-Exupéry, influenced by the division of the nation as a result of its defeat, spoke about the harsh conditions in which the Air Force was found, in particular the Reconnaissance Group II/33, to which he belonged, and that witnessed the exodus of populations fleeing from the advancing Wehrmacht. This was a huge migration movement, a hazy crowd rushing along the roads in chaos and calamity, misery and the fatality of a demoralized France, fallen as a result of the total collapse of the French Army. The Luftwaffe, equipped with superior aircraft, had just finished destroying the French and Allied squadrons:...

Le roman beur : du stéréotype au pastiche,le cas d'Ali le Magnifique de Paul Smaïl

The beur novel: from the stereotype to the pastiche, the case of Ali le Magnifique by Paul Smaïl

Mohammed Abdelatif Benamar

Romanica Olomucensia 2017, 29(1):77-86 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2017.006

This article addresses the phenomenon of stereotyping from a narratological and literary point of view, especially its deployment in "beur literature". In this context specifically, the stereotypes are to be understood as "cliché", because if the stereotype reflects the reality of society to some extent, the cliché, initially, is reinterpreted in literary fiction, where it performs a poetic and rhetorical function. Therefore, studying the cliché in the literary context is of major importance, since this kind of writing is able to generate textual typologies, mainly created of clichés, thus inviting some critics to use the designation "stereotypical...

Un Cioran méconnu

An unknown Cioran

Mara Magda Maftei

Romanica Olomucensia 2017, 29(1):87-106 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2017.007

It is said that youth marks us for ever, that the past is never forgotten. What about when it comes to a controversial writer with a double culture, French-Romanian, and born in a turbulent historical context? This paper emphasizes some original matters concerning the writer Emil Cioran. It presents the interwar Romanian political and intellectual context, Cioran's friends, who were then separated by the Iron Curtain, the reception of his Romanian and French books by his generation, the comments of the philosopher on his own writings, and the context that contributed to the birth of his philosophical thought.

A poesia de Ângelo de Lima nas estruturasda lírica moderna

Ângelo de Lima and the structures of modern poetry

Lenka Tóthová

Romanica Olomucensia 2017, 29(1):107-120 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2017.008

This paper approaches Angelo de Lima's (1872-1921) poetry through the prism of Hugo Friedrich's studies of modern poetry. Friedrich views modern poetry as a discursive manifestation that folds back on itself, which is characterized by its fragmented, opaque, and polysemous content, and shows major lexical and syntactic transformations. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to search for parallels that connect the Portuguese poet and painter with the new kind of lyric poetry as proposed by Friedrich, focusing particularly on the categories of the magic of the word, dissonance, and empty ideality. The paper concludes that Lima's poems incorporate some...

Jouissance et sensualité de la lumièredans la description flaubertienne du Voyage aux Pyrénées et en Corse

Enjoyment and sensuality of light in Flaubert's descriptive work Journey to the Pyrenees and Corsica

Rãzvan Ventura

Romanica Olomucensia 2017, 29(1):121-130 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2017.009

Flaubert's creation has its origin in the attempts of his youth, when he tried to go beyond a pure romanticism, adding the marks of a constitutive skepticism. One could argue, as many critics have already done, that Flaubert's creation is set up around an eternal tension between conflicting tendencies. The story of Flaubert's journey to the Pyrenees and Corsica relies on a fundamental tension that structures the perceptual universe of the young man. Flaubert endeavours to reveal the light, which, for him, becomes a sense of freedom, of the romanticism of perception and nature, thus contrasting the freshness and darkness pertaining to cold classicism...

Le thème du couple dans la comédie française contemporaine : le cas de Schmitt et De Vos

Marriage in the contemporary French comedy: Schmitt and De Vos

Marie Vo¾dová

Romanica Olomucensia 2017, 29(1):131-142 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2017.010

The paper deals with different variations on the subject of couples and marriage in contemporary comedy plays. First, the morphology of boulevard theatre genres is discussed: boulevard comedy, vaudeville and farce. Afterwards, two contemporary French playwrights are presented, together with an analysis of the specific depiction of the motifs of couples, marriage, and love triangles in their plays. The analysis includes Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt and his comedies The Guitrys (2013), Georges & Georges (2014), and Les Petites crimes conjugaux (2016) and Rémi De Vos and his play Projection privée (1998).
