Les constructions syntaxiques et les valeurs pragmatiques du pronom on français. Une étude contrastive basée sur un corpus franco-espagnol spécifique

Cet article traite du pronom on français à travers une étude comparative franco-espagnole basée sur un corpus littéraire constitué à partir du roman français Souvenirs dormants de P. Modiano et de sa traduction espagnole Recuerdos durmientes. Le pronom on remplace le sujet générique animé, soit comme pronom personnel, soit comme pronom indéfini. Comme il n'a pas d'équivalent sémantique et structurel en espagnol, il est traduit soit par des constructions avec se, soit par des formes non réfléchies, soit par l'emploi de constructions non réfléchies à sujets indéfinis tels que alguien, nadie, quien ou uno. Élément de grammaire ambigu et polysémique, le pronom on est riche en valeurs déictique, anaphorique et présentative dont nous tenterons de mieux comprendre les usages pragmatiques en analysant la manière dont elles sont transposées en espagnol. Pour ce faire, nous identifierons les constructions équivalentes employées dans la traduction espagnole du roman à partir d'un repérage des occurrences du pronom et de ses fonctions dans le texte original. L'analyse du corpus aboutit aux deux principaux résultats suivants : a) l'emploi des constructions non réfléchies à sujet générique est prédominant par rapport aux constructions avec se dans la version espagnole du roman, surtout dans les énoncés à valeur anaphorique, notamment quand celle-ci est stricte, b) la réflexivité ne joue pas de rôle distinctif dans la recherche de l'équivalence fonctionnelle dans l'ensemble analysé. Cet article entend contribuer à la recherche contrastive des constructions avec le on français et les différentes manières de les exprimer en espagnol. Des applications des résultats de la recherche pourraient être attendues dans la traduction français-espagnol et espagnol-français, notamment concernant le respect impératif du sens véhiculé par le texte littéraire.

Syntactic constructions and pragmatic values of the French pronoun on. A contrastive study based upon a specific Franco-Spanish corpus
The problem presented here consists of a comparative French-Spanish study based on a literary corpus, the novel in French by Patrick Modiano Souvenirs dormants and its corresponding Spanish translation Recuerdos durmientes. The research focuses on the French pronoun on. This replaces the animated generic subject, either as a personal pronoun or as an indefinite pronoun. In Spanish, it does not have a semantic and structural equivalent and that is why on is translated into se constructions, non-reflexive forms, or uno forms. As on is an ambiguous and polysemic element of grammar, rich in deictic, anaphoric, and presentative values, after the occurrences of on and its function in the French corpus have been located, it will be put into a relationship with its values and their equivalents and constructions identified in the Spanish Modiano corpus. The main findings resulting from the examination of this parallel corpus are the following: a) the use of non-reflexive constructions with a generic subject is predominant in the Spanish version of the contemporary novel, mainly in statements of anaphoric value, especially when the latter is strict; b) reflexivity does not play a distinctive role in the research for functional equivalence in the data that was analysed. This article aims to contribute to the contrastive research of constructions with the French on and the different ways of expressing it in Spanish. Applications of the results of the research could be expected in French-Spanish and Spanish-French translations, in particular concerning the imperative respect of the meaning conveyed by the literary text.
