Constructions agrammatisées mono- et polysynonymiques dans les romans de San-Antonio

Agrammaticalized mono- and polysynonymic constructions in the novels of San-Antonio

Anastasiia Lepetiukha

Romanica Olomucensia 2024, 36(1):1-13 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2024.001

In this research, mono- and polysynonymic constructions are considered as transforms of a virtual primary syntagm or proposition which are actualised in the form of grammaticalised (conventional in language and discourse) and typical (non-conventional in language and conventional in discourse) and atypical (non-conventional in language and in discourse) agrammaticalised co(n)textually pertinent preferential options. In grammaticalised utterances, expression prevails over expressiveness, while in agrammaticalised structures, expressiveness predominates over expression. In this article, the procedure of inverse reconstruction (discourse → language)...

Luca Palmarini

Romanica Olomucensia 2024, 36(1):15-32 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2024.002

The article aims to analyse the first 99 years of Italian-Czech, Czech-Italian bilingual lexicography, from its origins, dated 1890, up to 1989, the year of the fall of Communism in Czechoslovakia. After having briefly introduced the literary and linguistic relationships of Bohemia and Moravia with the Italian peninsula, the paper focuses on the lexicographic ones, starting with some references to the multilingual dictionaries in which Czech and Italian are present, then moving on to the path of history of Italian-Czech, Czech-Italian bilingual dictionaries and its lexicographic analysis. Lucia Ráèková

Romanica Olomucensia 2024, 36(1):33-44 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2024.003

This paper focuses on verbal expressions with la gueule as an object. As part of slangology and identity studies, for this comparative linguistic analysis two similarly distributed expressions in the web corpus of current French have been chosen: (se) bourrer la gueule and (se) péter la gueule. To elaborate on the meanings of these expressions, the corpus linguistics method with the help of the Sketch Engine software was used, focusing on both dictionaries and pragmalinguistic meanings. Applying the inverted pyramid principle, three blogs with the most slang verbal expressions were selected as the main research area. Given...

El tratamiento de las paremias en la traducción italiana de Los perros duros no bailan de Arturo Pérez-Reverte

The treatment of paremias in the Italian translation of Arturo Pérez-Reverte's Los perros duros no bailan

Maria Antonella Sardelli

Romanica Olomucensia 2024, 36(1):45-59 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2024.004

This paper deals with the treatment of paremias in the Italian translation of Arturo Pérez-Reverte's Los perros duros no bailan (Hard dogs don't dance). All the paremias found in the Italian translation were extracted and compared with the forms present in the source text. Then a reflection on the paremiological correspondences in Italian was carried out on the basis of the extrinsic analysis of the paremias, with special attention to the functions that some of the sententious utterances play in the text and to the presence of de-automatised paremias. The comparison of the source text and the target text with regard to the paremias under...

Análisis de las paremias de carácter popular en La colmena de Camilo José Cela

Paremiological analysis in La colmena by Camilo José Cela

Julia Sevilla Muñoz

Romanica Olomucensia 2024, 36(1):61-78 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2024.005

Paremias or short sententious statements appear in both spoken and written discourse, especially in literary texts. Therefore, this text typology is one of the main sources for the study of these units. This research presents a methodological proposal for the study of paremias in literary contexts, focusing on the complex nature of these linguistic units. The application of various criteria (linguistic, chronological, and literary) leads the author to choose as the object of study a novel written in Spanish by Camilo José Cela in the mid-20th century, La colmena (The Hive). This research will make it possible to find out the paremias...

Las TIC y la adquisición de la competencia paremiológica en aprendientes de traducción e interpretación

ICTs in the acquisition of paremiological competence in Translation and Interpreting learners

Manuel Sevilla Muñoz, Myriam Huéscar Villa

Romanica Olomucensia 2024, 36(1):79-95 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2024.006

The presence of phraseological units (PUs) in a text means a higher level of difficulty during the translation process. For this reason, it is desirable that learners of Translation and Interpreting acquire a certain phraseological and paremiological competence. The combined use of several ICTs could have a motivating effect on the teaching and learning process, enhance collaborative learning, and improve learning outcomes. On this point, a training action has been designed within the framework of the flipped classroom and collaborative learning so that Translation and Interpreting students can identify paremias, learn about their types, and characterise...

El incierto señor Don Edipo (¡!), Príncipe de... ¿Galicia? Relaciones hipertextuales y contextuales en Don Hamlet de Álvaro Cunqueiro

The uncertain Lord Don Oedipus (!), Prince of... Galicia? Hypertextual and contextual relationships in Don Hamlet by Álvaro Cunqueiro

Armando T. Aguilar de León

Romanica Olomucensia 2024, 36(1):97-110 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2024.007

O incerto señor Don Hamlet, príncipe de Dinamarca (‘The uncertain Lord Don Hamlet, prince of Denmark’, 1958) is the first play by Álvaro Cunqueiro and the first widely recognised tragic work in the Galician literary system. This inaugural drama focuses on the interaction scheme of Shakespeare’s plot in the light of Freudian theories – having the myth of Oedipus in the background – and contains a series of veiled socio-historical meanings referring to the context of its production: Galicia under the Franco dictatorship. Therefore, Cunqueiro’s play was analysed from a double perspective: hypertextual and...

Da damigella a uomo in pericolo: gotico tradizionale nel romanzo L'incanto del pesce luna

From damsel to man in distress: traditional Gothic in the novel L'incanto del pesce luna

Miona Diniæ

Romanica Olomucensia 2024, 36(1):111-119 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2024.008

Ade Zeno's novel L'incanto del pesce luna (The Enchantment of the Sunfish) reinvents the characteristics of traditional Gothic fiction within a contemporary context. Zeno adopts the well-known literary trope of a damsel in distress and reworks it by introducing the figure of the (female) vampire as a menacing element. Thus, he creates a narrative that blends supernatural elements with a disquieting yet recognisable reality. This article will analyse how Ade Zeno employs certain traditional Gothic elements within a contemporary setting while simultaneously exploring the concept of the monstrous. A general introduction to Gothic literature...

Poétique et métaphorisation du corps dans l'œuvre de Sony Labou Tansi

Poetics and metaphorization of the body in the work of Sony LabouTansi

Fatimazahra Hamri

Romanica Olomucensia 2024, 36(1):121-131 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2024.009

The author of a rich and continuous poetic work, albeit published posthumously, the Congolese Sony Labou Tansi (1947-1995) is one of the strong voices of the négro-africaine literature of the second half of the twentieth century. If his various collections are in line with the writers of negritude by the way he treats the various themes analysed and the relationship, made up of familiarity and strangeness, that he maintains with the language of the coloniser, it remains one of the most misunderstood and contested. His experience seems to be based on a "poetics" at the centre of which man and nature are constantly connected. His propensity...

Précarité, misère, désillusion. Mémoire de la désindustrialisation dans la prose française contemporaine

Precariousness, misery, disillusionment. Memory of deindustrialisation in contemporary French prose

Karel Støelec, Veronika Resslerová

Romanica Olomucensia 2024, 36(1):133-146 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2024.010

Deindustrialisation has led to a fundamental transformation of, among other things, existing social forms, relations, and status. Contemporary French literary reflection on post-industrial spaces repeatedly returns to the problem of the (usually negative) consequences of this process for the lives and destinies of individuals, families, and entire communities. Drawing on the methodology and insights of contemporary memory studies, this paper examines how literary works participate in the (co-)production, staging, or preservation of the collective memory and identity of given societies. The study analyses the specificities of this semiosphere, in particular...
