The aim of this article is to analyze the frequency and use of the past anterior ('pretérito anterior') in the evolution of the Portuguese language. The author studies the occurrence of this tense in various types of sentences (syntactic aspect) and various temporal meanings that it expresses (semantic aspect). The analysis is performed via the diachronic linguistic corpus www.corpusdoportugues.org.

The paper deals with grammatical interference in the formation of the passive voice in French by Slavic native speakers. In Slavic languages, which are mostly of a flexive type, the passive voice holds a particular position. The specificity of its use lies in the lower frequency of the passive in comparison with the active voice, as well as in a different degree of variability of passive structures. The first part of the study offers various perspectives on the connection between Marechal's novel Adan Buenosayres (1948) and Joyce's Ulysses (1922). The difference between those who consider it plagiarism and those who see an emulation of Ulysses in Adam shows how complex the comparison of texts can be. The second part of the research offers, in a synthetic way, the most relevant theoretical issues about intertextuality and focuses on the readings of Joyce's novel that Marechal carried out. This article focuses first on the history of the Czech reception of the work of Jean-Arthur Rimbaud and on the modifications of its interpretation, from the earliest mention concerning Rimbaud to its present perception. Then, in this context, three Czech translations of the poem The Drunken Boat are analyzed, dating from the post-World War II period: those by Franti¹ek Hrubín (1956, 1961), Otto F. Babler (1981), and Gustav Francl (2008).

The plots of the three Montchrestien tragedies - La Carthaginoise ou la liberté, Les Lacènes, and La Reine d'Ecosse - follow the same pattern: the confrontation of a cruel and tyrannical king with the vanquished. Moreover, in all three tragedies the defeated are women, who show remarkable moral qualities and a heroic attitude towards their destiny. On the other hand, the kings are presented as atrocious and cruel. Conceived after the first period of the religious wars, the tragedies dispute monarchical power.

According to Victor Klemperer, Nazi language often used borrowed words but the danger lies in the transformation they undergo once they are transferred into "general language". This study aims to focus on the anti-Semitic language adopted and manipulated by the Vichy regime to reveal the extent to which the new language is offered as a "new way" of thinking (Klemperer).
