Estrategias lingüísticas para marcar la discriminación de la mujer en una carta de venta del siglo XVIII
Linguistic strategies to mark the discrimination of women in an eighteenth-century letter of sale
Irina Bidot Martínez - Ana María Guerra Casanellas
Romanica Olomucensia 2021, 33(1):1-20 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2021.001
After reading a letter of sale concerning a slave, the authors were struck by the linguistic resources that revealed the discriminatory conceptions around the slave and the buyer. This paper describes the formal structure and linguistic resources of the letter that reveal the social treatment given to women, depending on whether their social and generic discrimination during the Cuban colonial period is demonstrated at a textual level. For this, the following methodological steps were proposed: transcription, the realization of a commented guide, and the analysis of its formal structure and of the linguistic elements. The theoretical referents that...
Las estructuras comparativas intensivas aplicadas al adjetivo negro en español medieval en comparación con el francés
Intensive Comparative Structures Applied to the Adjective negro in Mediaeval Spanish in Comparison to French
Xavier Blanco – Rafael García Pérez
Romanica Olomucensia 2021, 33(1):21-39 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2021.002
This paper is focused on intensive comparative structures (which are by far the most numerous in language and discourse) applied to the adjective negro in mediaeval Spanish. Many examples are studied and connected to similar structures in Mediaeval French (Old French and Middle French). The concept of collocation used in this paper is based on the same concept developed within Explanatory and Combinatorial Lexicology. The examples which contain the above-mentioned comparative structures are taken from the CORDE (Corpus diacrónico del español, RAE) and CDH (Corpus del Nuevo diccionario histórico del español) corpora. All...

Rachida Chelli – Benmostefa Fatima Zahra Harig
Romanica Olomucensia 2021, 33(1):41-58 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2021.003
This study aims to analyse bilingual speaking in the family environment of immigration. Immigrant speakers in France, including those from Algeria, use and practise their language, sometimes in monolingual use and sometimes by combining French, the language of the host country, with Algerian Arabic, the native language. In order to understand the language behaviours of speakers, this linguistic combination through bilingualism and code-switching has been analysed. The main objective is to determine the nature of the statements made and the languages chosen by the speakers, in order to identify their skills and to justify their language selections....
La hispanización de los apodos como elemento motivacional e identificador en el aprendizaje universitario de ELE

Bi Drombé Djandué
Romanica Olomucensia 2021, 33(1):59-74 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2021.004
A nickname is a name that people give themselves or receive from others because of how they are or what they do. It describes people better than their surnames and names since it is oriented to qualify them physically or morally. The fact that students of a foreign language give themselves nicknames in this language can be considered a motivational element in their learning, as well as denoting an inclusive attitude towards the target culture. 181 Spanish students out of a total of 563 respondents allow us to demonstrate this in the Ivorian context. Hispanized nicknames are constructed according to five linguistic techniques: translation, apocopate,...

Nicola Florio
Romanica Olomucensia 2021, 33(1):75-94 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2021.005
The aim of this paper is to present and analyse an original compilation of verb-particle constructions in Spanish and Italian, in order to prove that constructions of this type, which are characteristic of what are called satellite-framed languages, are also present in these two languages to a greater or lesser extent. The methodology used is based on the preliminary study of the main features of verb-particle constructions, the possible origin of these structures, and their introduction into Romance languages, as well as the different types of verb-particle constructions that can be identified according to their components. A subsequent and original...
Alusiones culturales y juegos lingüísticos en el lenguaje televisivo. El ejemplo de la serie La que se avecina
Cultural allusions and language games in media talk. The example of the series La que se avecina
Lucía Luque Nadal
Romanica Olomucensia 2021, 33(1):95-117 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2021.006
The significance of the language used in television series is most relevant when it comes to studying colloquial language. The linguistic creativity represented in the creation of idioms, allusions, culturemes, and language games takes on a special significance in series such as La que se avecina, the object of study in this work. To carry out the study of such cultural allusions and language games, a corpora of 50 expressions was defined. These expressions were selected following a double criterion: first of all, that the expressions showed a high degree of creativity and innovation and, second, that they contained either a language game or...
«¿Qué pinga es esto?». Usos disfemísticos en el español de Cuba
"¿Qué pinga es esto?". Dysphemistic uses in Cuban Spanish
Roxana Sobrino Triana
Romanica Olomucensia 2021, 33(1):119-134 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2021.007
The research aims to examine the path that the lexeme pinga has had in the Spanish language, specifically in the Cuban variant of Spanish, to identify its current uses in this variety, and to describe the semantic, pragmatic, and discursive procedures that are manifested in them. It is based on the most recent linguistic theories about the taboo that define euphemistic and dysphemistic uses as cognitive processes of conceptualization of a forbidden reality. From a methodological point of view, the word pinga is traced in the main academic and Cuban dictionaries and a corpus was created from the entries for Cuba in CREA and CORPES XXI...

«Un punto di vista come un altro». Su un quartiere di Milano nella poesia di Luciano Erba
"A point of view like any other". On a district of Milan in Luciano Erba's poetry
Samuele Fioravanti
Romanica Olomucensia 2021, 33(1):135-148 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2021.008
Spatial Criticism has recently highlighted the relationships between city planning in Milan, contemporary poetry, and neighbourhood life. This paper focuses on the emblematic case of a project promoted in via Solari by the Società Umanitaria, as represented in Quartiere Solari by Luciano Erba (1983). The wealth of documentation on the Beruto plan and on the project by the architect Broglio makes it possible to analyse the original objectives and the failure of the city plan as rendered in Erba's poem. A first survey focuses on critical essays Erba dedicated to the Milanese housing repertoire (villino, condominio, terrazzo)...
Fantastique et sentiment pré-écologique au XIXe siècle : trois récits de George Sand

Romanica Olomucensia 2021, 33(1):149-164 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2021.009
Nature is a major theme of romanticism. However, it is neither unified nor unique. The paradigm evolves during the 19th century, where the authors' projects combine aesthetic, metaphysical, or ideological contemporary considerations. Laura ou Voyage dans le cristal, L'Orgue du Titan, and Le Géant Yéous by George Sand bear witness to this momentum. These fictions, published in the late 19th century, intertwine in their diegesis natural studies and folklore, the reality of the world and the supernatural. The image of nature that they propose is plural. Consequently, they constitute a privileged medium to question the concept...

Romanica Olomucensia 2021, 33(1):165-178 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2021.010
Even if intimate and individualistic writing was acclaimed by Rousseau towards the end of the previous century, it was Madame de Staël, convinced of the relevance of this new sensibility with her novel Corinne or Italy, who inaugurated the romantic novel under the Empire. Benjamin Constant and Chateaubriand also tried their hand at romantic romance with Adolphe and Atala, respectively, without achieving the same success, which has led us to focus on the analysis of the Staëlian novel. In this article, the concomitant development of the novel and romantic sensibility at the very beginning of the XIXth century is retraced by linking...
