Modelo transformacional da atividade textual: realismo crítico e análise crítica do discurso

Transformational model of textual activity: critical realism and critical discourse analysis

Solange Maria de Barros

Romanica Olomucensia 2015, 27(2):157-166 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2015.014

In this paper, the Transformational Model of Textual Activity (TMTA), based on critical discourse analysis and critical realism, is presented. According to the TMTA, society exists by virtue of individuals who can reproduce it and modify it through language. The use of language (oral or written) can bring about changes in our knowledge, in our beliefs, etc. Fairclough argues that texts can start wars and contribute to changing the material world, industrial relations, education, and so on. Individuals produce texts and these are parts of social events which are shaped by the causal powers of social structures. Considering that texts are parts of social...

Cores do céu - Meteorologia popular nos provérbios portugueses

Colours of the sky - popular meteorology in Portuguese proverbs

Zyta Pada³a

Romanica Olomucensia 2015, 27(2):203-211 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2015.017

The aim of this article is to study Portuguese meteorological proverbs in which the weather forecast is based on an observation of the colours of the sky. The creation of meteorological proverbs results from an attempt to predict the weather circumstances that condition various aspects of human life, in particular the daily activities of farm workers and sailors, which are both common occupations in Portugal. The proverbs that are analysed reflect the thoughts and beliefs of the Portuguese nation. By merging folk legends and superstitions with observed facts, Portuguese people created a series of meteorological proverbs in which an observable change...

Criterios pragmáticos en la organización sintáctica de la oralidad

Pragmatic criteria in the syntactic organization of oral discourse

Guillermina Piatti

Romanica Olomucensia 2015, 27(2):213-226 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2015.018

In this paper, a pragmagrammatical approach is adopted; this approach supposes an interface between a descriptive grammar of real conversations and the communicative practices which are evident in speakers' selected options. Certain syntactic phenomena, particularly cut constructions, which are characteristic of oral discourse, are studied in this article, with their meaning being considered in relation to the context. Cases are extracted from a corpus of authentic conversations. Therefore, the study of syntax in context allows the definition of operational concepts and the formulation of organizational syntactic criteria in order to clarify some aspects...

Le désir refoulé : expressions de l'auto-homophobie dans quelques œuvres latino-américaines

The repressed desire: expressions of self-homophobia in some Latin American works

Nicolas Balutet

Romanica Olomucensia 2015, 27(2):227-242 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2015.019

The causes of homophobia - rejection and hatred of homosexuals by certain individuals - are plural. They seem nevertheless to reflect the hetero-centrism of society, that is to say, the supremacy of the patriarchal heterosexual social model, constantly reinforced by the bodies of power (political parties, trade unions, constituted bodies, churches, etc.) on behalf of demographic issues and the defense of a certain conception of morality, often inherited from religion. This "social homophobia", in the words of Francis Courtray in Normes sociales, droit et homosexualité (1996), not only legitimates collective homophobia but also leads to "self-homophobia",...

Dos percepciones, dos caminos. Acerca de los mundos ficcionales creados de acuerdo a los modelos de la novela de enigma y la novela negra

Two perceptions, two paths. About fictional worlds created in the manner of the classical and hardboiled detective story

Markéta Benèièová

Romanica Olomucensia 2015, 27(2):243-257 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2015.020

This paper tries to find new approaches to differentiate two variants on one genre, namely the classical detective story and the "novela negra". On a methodological basis it works with Lubomír Dole¾el's theory about possible fictional worlds in literature. Four operators are taken into account - aletic, deontic, axiological, and epistemic, both in its general and specific sense. Two noted works written by well-known Mexican authors have been chosen for investigation; one of them is a prominent representative of the classical detective story, María Elvira Bermúdez, the other one is a prolific promoter of the "novela negra" in Latin America, Paco Ignacio...

La militarisation du picaresque dans Duelo en El Paraíso de Juan Goytisolo

The militarization of the picaresque in Duelo en El Paraíso by Juan Goytisolo

Bi Drombé Djandué

Romanica Olomucensia 2015, 27(2):259-269 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2015.021

Duelo en El Paraíso, by Juan Goytisolo, a Spanish writer of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, is a romantic drama starring a band of orphaned children in the final months of the Spanish Civil War. Having gradually assimilated the violence around them, these orphaned children gathered in a Catalan school engage in dangerous and deadly games. Because they borrow the material, psychological, and ideological instruments of their desocialization in the context of war, the picaresque is militarized in Duelo en El Paraíso.

Exilio y representaciones patrióticas en El año que viene estamos en Cuba de Gustavo Pérez-Firmat

Exile and patriotic representations in Gustavo Pérez-Firmat's El año que viene estamos en Cuba

Georges Moukouti Onguédou

Romanica Olomucensia 2015, 27(2):271-280 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2015.022

Exile is the fact that someone leaves his country, voluntarily or involuntarily. In the case of involuntary exile (which is our concern here), some coercive forces oblige a person to abandon his homeland and seek refuge or asylum in another country. Ascunce sees expulsion or forced departure from the fatherland as one of the defining principles of the phenomenon of exile. This implies the persecution of a person for political or religious reasons. Exile, therefore, becomes an allegory of the socio-political history of the expatriate's country and personal and collective memory, whereas the lost homeland becomes the focus of disputes and spatio-mental,...

Le dilemme de l'amour et de la vertu et la revendication féminine dans les Lettres d'Adélaïde de Dammartin de Mme Riccoboni

The dilemma between love and virtue and the feminine claim in Mme Riccoboni's Lettres d'Adélaïde de Dammartin

Andrea Tureková

Romanica Olomucensia 2015, 27(2):281-290 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2015.023

This paper proposes an analysis of Mme Riccoboni's Lettres d'Adélaïde de Dammartin by connecting this novel to two particular works to which it deliberately refers, namely La Princesse de Clèves by Mme de Lafayette and the Mémoires du comte de Comminge by Mme de Tencin. The analysis is then oriented towards the problem of the heroine's internal dilemma between love and virtue, which is enriched by Mme Riccoboni with considerations on the status of women and particularly on the issue of marriage.
