O estándar galego: reintegracionismo Vs. autonomismo

The Galician standard: reintegrationism vs. autonomism

Silvia Duarte Collazo

Romanica Olomucensia 2014, 26(1):1-13 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2014.001

The present article analyses in depth the two opposing ideological lines confronted in the normative debate of the Galician language since the first normative approval in 1982 until the present day: the autonomism and the reintegrationism. According to these two linguistic ideologies, the codification of Galician is focused on two quite different perspectives. While the autonomism conceives Galician as a regional language and therefore exclusively restrained to the Autonomous Community of Galicia, the reintegrationism conceives it as an international language and as part of the Portuguese linguistic diasystem, trespassing in this way the borders of...

La jerga estudiantil en el Diccionario de autoridades

The student jargon in the Diccionario de autoridades

Beatriz Gómez-Pablos

Romanica Olomucensia 2014, 26(1):15-26 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2014.002

The student jargon, characterized by the changing nature of the community that uses it, has been studied mainly from the second half of the twentieth century. Despite of having a long history of centuries, there is still a lack of studies of earlier times. This paper is aimed to place the first stone in the reconstruction of student jargon and to cover a part of the deficit. This has made a complete emptying of the voices and expressions contained in the Diccionario de Autoridades (1726-1739), identified from the lexicographical signs offered in the articles.

Traduction et mise en valeur de la force illocutoire : le cas de l'interro-négation

Translation and highlighting of illocutionary force: the case of negative questions

Patricia C. Hernández

Romanica Olomucensia 2014, 26(1):27-42 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2014.003

This study proposes an examination of the interrogative form and more particularly negative questions. These structures are not a mere stylistic device equal to the positive form: they have an illocutionary force which plays a central role in the interaction. The aim of this paper is to show that the translator highlights the illocutionary force he perceives in the interrogative sentence by the use of the negative form. After a summary presentation of the description given by the linguistic literature, this work focuses on the translation of interrogative sentences and the choice by the translator of negative questions. We will analyze the translation...

La condensation nominale dans les textes juridiques de l'Union européenne

Nominal condensation in legal texts of the European Union

Zuzana Honová

Romanica Olomucensia 2014, 26(1):43-50 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2014.004

The article deals with the issue of nominal condensation, a characteristic feature of specialized discourse, and is based on legal texts of the EU institutions. It emphasises the specificity of legal texts as such and aims to compare the level of nominalisation in parallel French and Czech versions of judgements pronounced by the Court of Justice of the European Union. It tries to find the reason why the degree of nominalisation is also considerably high in Czech versions of these texts.

The aim of the study is to define the process used to translate anthroponyms and toponyms by different translators.

Nourriture et identité juive dans Las genealogías de Margo Glantz

Food and jewish identity in Margo Glantz' Las genealogías

Nicolas Balutet

Romanica Olomucensia 2014, 26(1):67-75 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2014.006

Since the 70s and the necessary emergence of feminist movements in the public sphere, we often think that food is a form of subjugation of women. At first glance, this is the idea that emerges from Las genealogías (1981), autobiography by Mexican writer Margo Glantz (1930-) that tells the story of Jewish immigrants from Ukraine. In its effort to decipher its Judeo-Mexican identity, the author relies almost exclusively on his father and his literary activities while his mother is relegated to the kitchen. This article seeks to demonstrate, however, that the text does not discredit Lucia Glantz. The food facilitates the emergence of memories and strengthens...

Discorso teorico-critico sul fantastico negli ultimi anni del novecento in Italia

Theoretical-critical discourse on fantasy literature of the late 20th century

Eva Mesárová

Romanica Olomucensia 2014, 26(1):77-84 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2014.007

For many 20th-century writers, fantasy was a way to demonstrate the power of literature to create worlds different from the known, but nonetheless originating from reality. This article aims to attract attention to the main attitudes espoused in the literary theory and criticism of late-20th-century Italy. Some of the critics followed in the footsteps of Todorov and suggested corrections to his typology. Others, however, rejected Todorov's schematic representation and suggested a typology based on a broader contrast between the fantastic and the realistic. Finally, there were attempts to use the analysis of Todorov's taxonomies as a springboard for...

La cosa misma del lenguaje en Giorgio Agamben. Una revisión del concepto de comunidad

The thing itself of language in the work of Giorgio Agamben. A review of the concept of community

Ester Pino Estivill

Romanica Olomucensia 2014, 26(1):97-107 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2014.009

This present article takes Giorgio Agamben's conception of language as a "thing itself", a recurring theme on his work, as a starting point to understand his political position, culminates with an invitation to the coming community. Through his genealogical reading of the gaps between discourse and language, the key elements of his philosophy are revealed, such as the Aristotelian reading of noûs and the power of thought. Drawing upon his conception of language as a space devoid of belongings, the article seeks to review the concept of community in dialogue with other contemporary philosophers as Maurice Blanchot, Jean-Luc Nancy and Roberto Esposito.

Quelques réflexions à propos de la correspondance de Jan Čep à Henri Pourrat

Some reflections on the correspondence between Jan Čep and Henri Pourrat

Jan Zatloukal

Romanica Olomucensia 2014, 26(1):109-115 | DOI: 10.5507/ro.2014.010

Jan Čep, translator of Gaspard from the Mountains, belonged among the important non-French correspondents of Henri Pourrat. Their mutual correspondence (1932-1958), which reflects notable moments of European history of the twentieth century, is an important source not only for the literary historian. Based on this correspondence, the paper analyzes three aspects of literary reflection: how the two letter writers comment on the literary production of the time (letter as a document); how the writer critically reflects his own work (letter as a critical space); what is the relation of the correspondence and the literary création (letter as a piece of writing).
